The world has definitely started 2020 in an interesting way! The whole world has been unsure what the future holds for us all in these uncertain times. But rest assured that the staff is doing all we can to make sure ASPiRES is here for all our service users when the government says it safe to do so.
Throughout lockdown, we’ve tried our best to carry on offering our support to our service users who have access to the internet. We made a special group on Facebook for our staff and service users to communicate, share photos, videos, and take part in our daily challenge. This has definitely got some laughs and cheered us all up, especially when we took part in our drawing challenges! We also opened our website chat with our service users who don’t have Facebook so they could keep in touch also. We will be continuing this support until we are able to open ASPiRES again fully.
Currently, the staff are back in the workshop making wheels for Guy Raymond and cards for Petra Boase. But they are missing the atmosphere that the service users bring each day. The workshop just isn’t the same without our funny conversations, jokes, and laughter. We can’t wait to get back to some sort of normality.
Sadly, we’ve had to cancel all of our events planned over the last few months. our group cinema trip, staff sponsored walk, fun day, and the sports day at Mildenhall. All of these trips and activities will be postponed to 2021.
We are still very much wanting our Christmas celebrations to go ahead, but we are unable to give a definite answer at this time as we are unsure what activities will be available to us. Hopefully, we will manage to find a way to end the year on a positive note and be together to celebrate the festive season.
Over the next few weeks, we are having discussions on new safety measures that will be put in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. We will be sure to make our plans evadable on our website blog page and letters will be sent to houses also.
If you have any questions regarding service users returning to work please get in touch with either Janice on 01366 347721 or Beth L on Facebook or website chat. They will be more than happy to answer any of your questions. Though, because we are still in discussions with Norfolk County Council we might not hold all the answers just yet but will try our best to get the information back to you as soon as we can.
We want to thank everyone for being so understanding at this time and we can’t wait to open our doors to service users very soon.
